Passenger & Platform Lifts

Passenger lifts — also called Vertical Platform Lifts (VPLs) — are engineered to safely move people between levels. Unlike cargo lifts, passenger lifts meet ADA and ASME safety standards and are equipped with the full suite of safety systems required for human transport.

Ask Us About ADA Compliance. Passenger Lifts are the only lift type approved for transporting people. Cargo lifts and builder's baskets are designed for goods only and must never be used to transport people. If you need to move people between levels, a passenger lift is required.

What's the difference between a cargo lift and a passenger lift?

Cargo lifts move goods only. They are not approved for transporting people. Passenger lifts (also called Vertical Platform Lifts or VPLs) are people-rated and meet ADA and ASME safety standards. If you need to move people between levels, you need a passenger lift.

Is a passenger lift the same as an elevator?

A passenger lift is not an elevator. Both must meet all requirements for safe human transport, however an elevator is defined by a fully enclosed cab and shaft, so a passenger lift is often a more affordable option.

Can a lift be installed indoors?

Yes. Cargo lifts and passenger lifts can be installed indoors or outdoors.

Are the lifts built for Gulf Coast weather?

Yes. The lift systems we install are built from marine-grade aluminum and stainless steel hardware, specifically engineered for coastal environments with salt air, humidity, and high winds. Built to last in Gulf Coast conditions.

What weight capacity do your lifts have?

Lift capacity varies by model. We have models that are rated for up to 1200 lbs.

How much does a lift cost?

Do I need a permit?

It depends on your location and lift type. Cargo lifts are not classified as elevators, which creates some ambiguity, but passenger lifts may require permits and inspections. Requirements vary by parish, county, and state. Premier Lifts will help you understand what's needed for your specific location.

Do I need a concrete slab at the landing?

No. The footplate for the travel beams can sit on a concrete pad or be buried 18 inches underground.

Do you install the lifts, or do I have to find an installer?

Premier Lifts handles the full installation. Leif and his crew are trained, experienced, and handle everything from site assessment through final testing. Most installations are completed in a single day.

Can I install my own lift?

Yes, you can install your own lift. Professional installation give you the convenience and the assurance that the lift will meet all specifications and requirements for smooth, reliable operation.

Do I have to pay up front?

A 50% non-refundable deposit is required at order prior to production, with the balance due at the time of delivery on site.

Are there additional costs?

In addition to the cost of the lift, there are electrical, site preparation, installation, and shipping costs to consider. When we inspect your project, we can provide you with a full breakdown of costs.

What size motor is installed with my lift?

Motor size varies by lift type and travel distance. The motor is always selected to provide the best combination of economy and power with maximum safety.

How do I determine my travel distance?

Measure from the finished floor at your highest stop down to the landing point on the finished surface or ground.

What type of maintenance is required?

Yes. Routine maintenance is highly recommended to maintain your lift in optimal operating condition. Greasing the head assembly every six months with lithium-based grease. Note that we are always here when you need us and can provide a maintenance agreement if preferred.

Do you offer maintenance or service?

Yes. We provide regular maintenance or emergency service.

What does it mean if the light on the control panel is off?

Check that there is power from the breaker and that there are no blown fuses in the disconnect. If you've checked these items and the light is still off, give us a call, (945)264-4787.

Is my lift covered by a warranty?

Yes. Each manufacturer offers a warranty. For many of the lifts we install, that includes a 5-year structural warranty and a 1-year electrical and mechanical parts warranty. Acts of God are excluded. Our technicians can give you specifics on your lift choice.
